saying hello

OK, I'm new at this. Just wanted to say "hello" to both people reading this blog (hi mom!) and that we will speak about more interesting things than Mike's nerdy computer endeavors. I really don't know if I have that new of a perspective on matters of interest in the beltway and beyond (especially the hometown of St. Louis), but I am probably the only person who utilize a Bruce Campbell quote to buttress an argument about Whittaker Chambers. There are many excellent bloggers out there on both the right and the left (and the hard center) and one should spend some time to get to know them, but we hope that you will enjoy ours and pass the name along.

not ready for politics yet

At some point, I will opine how I feel about political matters. I am a conservative/libertarian/anything not Democrat. With all the recent news, from "spygate" to the war in Iraq, you'd think I'd have something to say. I really don't, though. I'm busy cramming for a IT certification test, A+ to be exact, so that's where my concerns lie. Once I pass this test, I'll be flipping around my resume to try for my first job in IT. My background was in real estate and construction but I've decided I'd rather be a computer nerd. In fact, this site is my first entry into the world wide web. Once I learn about web design, I'd like to create a family website for the maternal and paternal side. Family trees, history, everything. I'd especially like to talk about my great great (great?) grandpa Riska, for he was run over by a streetcar in St Louis after a night at the VFW hall. Of course, alcohol was not a factor.

Welcome to me

Hi, I am Joe, the brother of Mike. This is my first post. I am a loser.

Christmas Day

Today is Christmas Day, couldn't you tell by the title? For the first time ever, my brother is getting a lesson in blog posting 101. Let's see what he has to say.

My blog was actually viewed

Last night I was living it up in St Louis and went to my good friend Steve Smiths bar with a group of friends. Steve is the man responsible for telling me about blogger.com and if it werent for him, I wouldn't be writing this right now. Apparently Steve saw my blog, for he knew that I had posted two comments. Check out Steves website, he's a local St Louis guy who knows everybody thats anybody in St Louis.
I also found a book last night called "Publishing a Blog With Blogger" for $10 at Borders. This book gives exact instructions on how to set up your blog. Highly recommended!!!

Hungover Holidays

I forgot how much alcohol consumption takes place during the holiday season, I feel like hell today. Got back in the boxing ring last night and I think I'm gonna participate in a St Louis amateur fight this February. I haven't fought in front of a crowd in two years, the last time it happened, I had the tar beat out of me. But hey, I got a free beer afterwards.

My first day on the blog

Hello world, this is my first day in the blog world. I have no clue what I'm doing right now and my brother does not even know I started this yet. Tune in soon and see how far we make it in record speed time.
